Description

Really wish I would have picked a different background to use. lol. I mean I always like it when I'm looking through the masses of backgrounds I have, yet every time I take the picture it reminds me of vomit.

Probably not a good thing to think about when looking at a picture of your own work. Yet, it happens a lot to me. :la:

I wanted this knife to have a frontier/pioneer/period style feel. I do however like my own touch to my knives. I want to be able to tell just by looking that I made the knife (in a good way preferably). I went with a copper textured guard, along with some flame/curly/fiddleback maple. Which ever you prefer to call it. I choose a horseshoe rasp, because lets face it that is sort of my thing. Turning junk into more junk! Who doesn't need more junk? I do. You do.

We all do.

I hope that you guys have a great 4th of July. I know I will be. Steaks cooking atop a forge, is there anything more health than that?

while you maintain original lines that keep to the propose of the "Bowie" as it was designed by its namesake, the next step in using materials for the blade that lend a new level of ruggedness and badassery. i assume that while the cosmetics are very nice, one could look at that blade and proceed with the daily chores of knife fighting Indians and the assorted gutting and skinning around the homestead of the evening dinner. a few questions; the copper looking material where the index finger would naturally lie on the handle, from the picture it appears fairly rough, will heavy gloves be needed for chopping operations? The finish on the main handle blocks is it lacquer, will it become slippery in wet or bloody conditions? lastly, the material between the bolster and the main part of the handle, what is that, leather?
i thank you for allowing me the opportunity to comment on your work, I am not an expert by any means, but I do love knives.
