Metal Rose Knife Close Up by Logan-Pearce Metal Rose Knife Close Up by Logan-Pearce
Horrid pictures. Please forgive me. :(

A better view of my flower and the atrocity that was meant to be carved roots. Good thing is I can only get better...............right?

So wonderful! So much thought put into it! I look forward to the day I can own a few pieces by you. lol You will be celebrated every time I cut herbs. I don't think that it's a failure at all. Art has a habit of taking on a life of it's own. It's rare when what the object wants and what the artist wants ends up coming out the same!

That's clever! are the petals welded on?
Reply
:iconlogan-pearce:
Logan-Pearce Featured By Owner Sep 5, 2011  Professional Artisan Crafter
Negative. They are 5 layers of steel that I sandwiched down using the metal tang to keep them there. No welding involved.

I think I get it.. so the tang is riveted or something?

With a collar so the petals don't slip down the tang right?

:P I just like for the masses to know that even I mess up. I hate it when they are so hard on themselves. They are, after all, created in my image. xD

oh! idea!!! :D you could cover it up by making the roots into an inlay of wood or somthing or putting a rose petal in side it and using a clear epoxy or something to coat and protect it!!!!

Sweet! you might have failed the roots but it's a really cool design! the rose is splendid as well! how did you make it? layer by layer?

Yep! Layer by layer. The rose was what I did the most work on, the roots were more of an after thought.

I'm not sure exactly. I worked on it on and off for about a week and a half. Shaping the pedals before putting them onto the knife was the worst. I really don't like that part. The rest was pretty easy, just that part, really sucked.
