Orange You Happy? by Logan-Pearce Orange You Happy? by Logan-Pearce
Actually, no. I'm not.

I'm disappointed. In the paracord and myself.

You can see how the orange paracord is a little dirty. -.-' I didn't realize my hands were that bad when I was wrapping the handle. I realize it isn't that noticeable, but it is when the knife is in your hand.

As for myself, well my name is double stamped. :/ I'm seriously getting a new stamp soon.

As for the knives. I thought it would be fun to put a orange paracord wrapped knife beside the other one. The cord wrapped knife is my Vulcan knife, which was previously named 'Claw', but I changed it due to the over use of the name on most knives like this. It's previous look was also this:

Changes have been made as you can see. And more have been made in the recent days. You'll get to see a slight preview of what it will eventually look like in a few days. Hopefully in the weeks to come I'll have a good set up going for them and you will get to see how utterly awesome it will be.

They are gonna be all tacticool like and stuff. You'll love it.

Anyway, the bottom knife is kind of my 'Master' design that I'm going to be using. Although, I think I want the hole at the end a bit larger. So I might have to go back and fix that...again. >.>

This will be my last use of orange handles for a while. Rejoice.

i think that you're knives are great! it's great you make knives. i haven't seen many people that take up this proffesion lately. the psychadelic one looks like it belongs to a man at a club named "Uncle Lenny" that might pull it out at you for stepping on his girl's feet, and the wrapped one looks like a small (but effective) back up plan that a shanghia martial arts fighter might use in self defense. you should keep up the a-m-a-z-i-n-g work and do what you love best! i think that they're both very well done and that you're veeeeeeeeeeeery talented!
What do you think?

You should coat the paracord with resin...to protect it.

Totally should. I hear that is what all of the elite makers do it that way. While wearing their bling.

Not yet. I'm probably not going to make one for the Vulcan. It is just going to be the model for future knives like it. It's actually half the thickness of my normal Vulcan as well, so that plays a big part in it. As for the top one, I haven't gotten around to making one for it yet.

Thanks! It was like I was born to be a bladesmith, then again my family were knifemakers before I was born, so that probably had something to do with it. :D

And very nice stuff! I'm impressed, finally someone named Logan that has talent. I'm jealous.

How did you make the top handle? Is that rubber? Rubber molds seems like a big deal to me since I've never used them, maybe it's not as complicated as I think. It just looks so fancy.

That wrap may be a little dirty but it is the 'cleanest' execution I've seen outside traditional Japanese 'Tskukamaki', nice job. Might have to 'steal' that wrap sometime. ;>)

What is that a single row of holes down the center? :) Don't know if you are already using a clamp as you go to hold everything tight while you rest your fingers, I know mine get tired doing a wrap, I have a cam action one that Michael Bell showed me how to make years ago but you can just as easy use a curved jaw set of vise grips with clean leather lining the jaws, sure makes it easier, nice to be able to stop take a break and go back after the lactic acid in the muscles flushes it self and know it's still going to be tight when you start again.

Yep. I try using the clamps sometimes, but I'm really clumsy. Half the time I accidentally knock them off, but I'm using the cheap clamps. That does sound like a really good idea. I think my gf could really use that for the Japanese wrap. The good thing about this kind, it isn't nearly as bad on your hands as the other wraps that I've tried. (that could also just be in my head) lol.

Thanks for the advice. I have some mini vises that I was considering lining with leather and putting it in the handle room for that. That way we could just leave them in the vise and come back later if we needed to. It really depends on if she decides to stick with the Asian style or not.

They are going to be $45. I'm planning on having the whole knife coated to make them super wear/rust resistant. I'll probably be going with a matte black, tan, or green so they are as non-reflective as possible.

I'll be posting a picture of what it will kind of look like this week. I don't think I'll be going back to the acid wash finish like this one, unless requested. I'm probably making them too complicated, like I usually do with things, but I really want them to be as awesome as possible. :P
